Hitotsubashi University and the University of Bonn signed an Academic and Student Exchange Agreement

 

In December 2025, Hitotsubashi University (HU) and the Rhenish Friedrich Wilhelm University of Bonn (University of Bonn), Germany signed an Academic and Student Exchange Agreement to promote academic cooperation and student exchange.

 

The University of Bonn is a national university located in Bonn, a federal city in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Establishment in 1818, it has produced distinguished alumni across diverse fields, including Konrad Adenauer (the first Chancellor of West Germany), Ludwig van Beethoven (a composer), and numerous researchers, among them Nobel laureates. Today, the University of Bonn is internationally recognized for its outstanding interdisciplinary education and research, and is also one of the 11 universities designated as “University of Excellence” under the German Universities Excellence Initiative by the Federal Government of Germany.

 

Students from the Faculty of Commerce and Management and Faculty of Economics participating in the exchange will study at the Department of Economics, which is a part of the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Bonn. The Department’s areas of strength include Microeconomics, Finance and Statistics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics. The Department is also highly regarded within Germany and internationally.

 

Under this agreement, Hitotsubashi University and the University of Bonn commit to the mutual exchange of undergraduate students from the Faculty of Commerce and Management, and Faculty of Economics, HU and the Department of Economics, University of Bonn each year. HU student will have the opportunity to take courses taught in English at the University of Bonn.
