Applying for the MEXT Scholarship Extension

延長申請を希望する者は、申請書をダウンロードし、教務課留学支援係（受入担当）に提出すること。
Download the following application forms and submit the completed versions to the Study Abroad Section (Inbound), Educational Affairs Division.

学業成績係数計算表(3.0 Grade Point Calculation Form)

現在正規課程に在籍する方は、各自の成績係数を計算してください。
Students currently in degree-seeking courses should calculate your Grade Point on your own.

小論文（Short Essay) ※特別延長者のみ（only for Special Extenision Students）

特別延長者（学部から修士へ進学する際に一度延長申請をしたことがある者）は小論文を提出してください。
Special Extenision Studnets means those who have applied for MEXT Scholarship Extension once before when you went to Master’s program from Undergraduate course. They are required to write a short essay..

締切までに学務部教務課留学支援係（受入担当）へ持参・及びEメールにてデータを送信すること。
教務課留学支援係（受入担当）への持参・及びEメール送信両方を行って手続き完了となるので、注意すること。

Please submit all the required documents by both by e-mail and in writing to the Study Abroad Section (Inbound), Educational Affairs Division.
The application will be completed when you submit both the required documents as an attachment by e-mail, as well as handing in the hard copies of the documents.

教務課留学支援係（受入担当）へEメール添付にて送付するもの
Attachment you are required to send by e-mail

  1. 申請書Ａ（奨学金支給期間延長申請書　Application form）
  2. 申請書Ｂ（研究計画又は研究状況　Research plan or Research status）
  3. 論文発表及び受賞歴等の一覧（あればWordファイルで提出）
    List of your research paper and other accomplishments (If any, Word file preferred)
  4. 小論文（特別延長者のみ Only for Special Extension Students)

指導教員が教務課留学支援係（受入担当）へEメール添付にて送付するもの
Attachment your supervisor is required to send by e-mail

  1. 指導教員の意見書　Letter of your supervisor
    ※進学希望大学を一橋大学以外の大学にする場合は、【大学変更の場合、その所見】にも必ず記入していただくこと。
    ＊If you are applying to a university other than Hitotsubashi University, be sure to have your supervisor fill in【大学変更の場合、その所見】section as well.

注意事項
Caution

学部から修士、もしくは修士から博士に進学する場合、学業成績係数が申請基準を満たしていないと奨学金支給期間の延長申請はできません。
また、採用の基準が年々厳しくなっているため、申請基準を満たしている場合でも、奨学金が延長される保証は一切ありません。

In case you get into both Master’s courses from undergraduate ones and Doctoral courses from Master’s ones, if your academic performance don’t fulfill the screening standard decided by MEXT, you cannot apply for the scholarship extension.
Also, it seems that MEXT screens all of the extension applications under stricter standards year by year. Therefore, please keep in mind that all of the applicants cannot always get approval of extension by MEXT, even if our university recommends you as scholarship extension applicant to MEXT.
