Cross-cultural Opportunities Aimed at Getting International Students Involved in Japanese Communities
Over 800 international students are enrolled at Hitotsubashi University, accounting for approximately 10 percent of the total student body. This richly diverse environment helps students deepen their knowledge of other cultures and leads them on the path to becoming “Smart and Tough Global Leaders.”

Hitotsubashi University Global Education Program (HGP)
HGP offers interdisciplinary courses conducted in English for both International and Japanese students.
Language Community
The purpose of the Language Community (LC) is to promote language exchange activities between international students and Japanese students at Hitotsubashi University. Japanese students mainly get to speak in English with international exchange students while international students engage in Japanese conversations through table-talk format over lunch. Language Community Coorinators facilitate the table talk, offering variety of cultural topics for everyone to learn and connect.
Integrated Residence Hall with student staff
International Student Dormitory Assoociation of Kodaira (ISDAK) Resident Assistants (RA) assists international and domestic students living in the residence hall and assist with planning student activities. It also has Community Assistants (CAs), who reside in each shared residential unit of 6 students and provide support to the residents for daily living and exchange activities.
Career Exploration Programs for Exchange Students
Exploring a career in Japan can pose challenges for students with limited time in the country, particularly given the prevalent requirement for Japanese language skills in many companies. Hitotsubashi University addresses this hurdle by offering two career exploration programs designed to give exchange students a practical glimpse into working within Japanese companies, thus enhancing their global career aspirations.
