Application Procedures for Exchange Students
Applications for the Spring-Summer 2026 semester will be beginning August 1, 2025.
[STEP 1] STUDENT NOMINATION
Students from our partner universities must be nominated by their home institutions before beginning the application process. The home institution has to complete HU’s Nomination List Excel form with the basic information about the student selected for the exchange and submit it to Hitotsubashi University through the Nomination List Upload form.
*Online NOMINATION (Spring-Summer 2026) : August 1 – September 16, 2025 (JST)
[STEP 2] ONLINE REGISTRATION
The applicants nominated by the partner institutions must complete the following online registration form with their personal data and the application documents No.1 (mandatory), No.2 (only for those who are required to submit) and No.4 (if needed) listed in the following Document Checklist. Direct applications from students without nomination by partner institutions will not be accepted.

[STEP 3] SUBMIT APPLICATION DOCUMENTS
There are also application documents to be prepared by partner institutions. The partner institutions must submit documents No.5 (mandatory) and 6 (if needed) listed in the following Document Checklist by e-mail to us (Study Abroad Section (inbound), Educational Affairs Division) by the following designated deadline.

Please check this schedule and our academic calendar before applying and ensure that the time frames meet any expected deadlines/procedures at your home institution before/after your student exchange at Hitotsubashi University.
Please note that Hitotsubashi University does not accommodate any requests from students to release any information about their grades before the university’s designated official grade release day.
Application Procedure for Reasonable Accommodations
Hitotsubashi university provides reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities.
If you wish to apply for it, please read No.4 on the Document Checklist and the attached files carefully and apply with all the necessary documents.
Please note that if you do not apply at the same time as your application for study abroad, the process will take longer and you may not receive the necessary accommodations in time for classes to begin.
Document Checklist
Documents No.1,2,4 must be submitted to Hitotsubashi University through the online form by the applicant.
Documents No.3 must be sent to HU’s partner law firm through an online form by the applicant.
Documents No.5,6 must be sent to Hitotsubashi University (edu-gs.g2@ad.hit-u.ac.jp) by the home university by email.

【Notice】 Submission of a TB Clearance Certificate became mandatory when applicants from the Philippines, Vietnam and Nepal are applying for a COE. If you are subject, please ensure to prepare all required documents in advance. |
Online form | *Not required for those who enter Japan with a Japanese passport or a valid status of residence.
*COE application form is organized by HU’s partner law firm on your behalf and they will contact you about the COE application by email so please follow their instruction. Please refer to the following. |
4 | Requesting Reasonable Accommodations Form for Students with Disabilities (zip file) | Online form | This is only required for students requesting reasonable accommodations. The student should complete and sign it. Please refer to and submit all of the following documents.
*For 7-3, you can change your courses until the actual registration period, which begins after the classes start. |

- タイプするか、楷書または活字体で書くこと
Type or print legibly.- 数字は算用数字を用いること
Use Arabic numerals for numbers.- 年号は全て西暦を用いること
Note the year according to the Western calendar.- 固有名詞は全て正式な名称を記入し、省略しないこと
Write proper nouns in full; do not abbreviate.- 申請書内の氏名はパスポート名を用いること
Name in English must be the same as the passport name.- 申請書データのファイル名は変更しないこと
Do not change the file names of application documents.
