This course is for students who have never learned the Japanese language, or have learned only a little. The emphasis of this course is to provide students opportunity to acquire basic skills for conversation, reading and writing, which are necessary for daily life in Japan.
Introduction to Japanese Language 3 105 minutes 3 days / week
This course is for students who have never learned the Japanese language, or have learned only a little. Also, the main target of this course are the students who will be staying in Japan for a short period of time (6 months) . The emphasis of this course will be basic speaking and listening skills necessary for simple conversation in daily life as well as writing and reading. In class, students will have practices focused on practical situations so that students should be able to start communicating in Japanese immediately.

This course is for students who have learned the Japanese language for 150 hours at a university and mastered hiragana, katakana, and approximately 150 kanji and the 1st half of basic grammar. The emphasis of this course is to provide students opportunity to acquire basic skills for conversation, reading and writing necessary for daily student life in Japan.
Comprehensive Japanese for Beginners 3 105 minutes 3 days / week
This course is for students who have mastered hiragana and katakana, approximately 150 kanji characters, and the first half of beginner-level grammar. The course is designed to develop practical skills in the four skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking Japanese. The class will provide many exercises based on situations that students will encounter in their daily lives, aiming to enable students to communicate in Japanese outside of class immediately.

Pre-intermediate writing skills  will be taught using pre-intermediate grammar and vocabulary.

This course is for students who have basic Japanese knowledege. The course aims to develop four communication skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) by learning and practicing intermediate level expressions and vocabulary.

Basic speaking skills are taught, using basic- and intermediate- level grammar and vocabulary.
Intermediate Japanese Writing 2 105 minutes 1 day / week
Basic writing skills are taught, using basic- and intermediate-level grammar and vocabulary.
Intermediate Japanese Reading 2 105 minutes 1 day / week
Basic reading skills are taught through reading texts written with basic- and intermediate-level grammar and vocabulary.

Skills for reading texts from the Early Modern era, including the necessary grammatical and lexical knowledge, are taught . No previous knowledge on classical Japanese is needed.
Advanced Japanese in Economics II 2 105 minutes 1 day / week
Skills needed to understand authors’ viewpoints and value judgments, along with relevant grammatical and lexical expressions, are taught by reading Nikkei Shinbun and textbooks on economics.
Japanese for Economic Research 2 105 minutes 1 day / week
The skills needed to interpret authors’ points of view and value judgments, as expressed in economics articles and books, and to make logical and clear oral presentations are taught.
Advanced Legal Japanese 2 105 minutes 1 day / week
Skills needed to understand laws and legal statements are taught , based on the textbook “Nihonho heno shotai (Learning Japanese law by reading judicial precedents)”.
